Senior Supervisor/Lawyer/Analyst – ASIC

The team
The Strategic Surveillance, Banking and Data (SSBD) team delivers proactive surveillance outcomes across multiple sectors using thematic surveillance expertise, running complex surveillances within and across sectors and leading group wide activities. SSBD is responsible for the regulation and supervision of the banking sector and strategically important financial institutions. This includes proactive engagement with and monitoring of firms to understand and respond to emerging industry issues and provide strategic direction and technical expertise for ASIC's work. The team collaborates with other parts of ASIC in ensuring consistent and effective delivery of ASIC's regulatory priorities by using best practice regulatory supervision, surveillance knowledge, expertise, and resources on Regulation & Supervision (R&S;) or ASIC wide projects.

The role
As a Senior Analyst/Lawyer/Supervisor you will be responsible for delivering on complex data-driven surveillances and ASIC-wide or priority projects, contributing to the supervision of the banking sector, identifying and addressing emerging and current risks, engaging with stakeholders, and assessing applications to exercise discretionary powers.

- Developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships with stakeholders, including representing ASIC at government or industry meetings
- Leading and identifying new ways to utilise data to deliver priorities and support evidence-based decision making, including effective collection, management, analysis, and communication of insights from data
- Contributing to the guidance, training, direction and mentoring of junior team members
- Maintaining knowledge of ASIC's regulatory framework and toolkit, relevant legislative and reporting requirements, domestic and international developments, and best industry practice models

About You
You will possess a strong understanding of the benefits of strategic relationships to maximise data and information opportunities, with experience in advising on complex transactions or projects requiring critical thinking and judgment in relevant industries such as legal firms or regulatory environments.

- Relevant tertiary qualification
- Deep knowledge of banking, Australian financial markets, and the regulatory environment
- Strong strategic thinking, analytical, investigative, and research skills
- Proven ability to develop strategic relationships for effective data use
- Experience leading high-performing teams with a focus on strategic direction and coaching
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail in business reporting
