Edmund Rice Centre WA has successfully provided Language for Living in Australia – English language classes to adults from refugee and migrant backgrounds for 22 years. We are currently seeking retired primary and secondary school teachers to join our team of 20 dedicated volunteers and assistants.
Position Description
The Volunteer Teacher facilitates classes and helps in the Language for Living in Australia program. Classes run for two hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings during school terms. A wide range of teaching resources is available, and new volunteers will receive support from experienced teachers and ERCWA staff. Whether you'd like to teach once a week or multiple times, we welcome your involvement. We do ask volunteers to commit to one full 10‑week term to ensure continuity for students. Volunteer Teachers will work closely with the Language for Living Program Coordinator.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
* Respect and be compassionate to the relevant cultures, religions, and customs of participants in the class.
* Make use of the teaching resources available at the Centre.
Qualifications
* Relevant tertiary qualifications/certification or relevant work experience.
