We are a leading producer of scientifically proven, sustainable natural ingredients for the pet food and feed industries, and a subsidiary of the largest publicly traded company of its type. Starting with a business development mandate, this role has the potential to broaden into a full commercial manager role.
This role has been created to provide enhanced support and drive efficiencies in the sales processes of the business.
Your primary responsibility is to manage the sales processes from end to end, expanding and opening markets for our small portfolio of functional ingredients.
This recent role will support the local Management Team through increased professionalism and capability. The incumbent will function as technical support manager for the client portfolio with a relationship management focus on key accounts, determinedly unlocking new sales opportunities.
This role reports to the Managing Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Regularly interacting with existing customers whilst developing new customers via visitation and product presentations to expand markets.
- Developing a strong knowledge on product functionalities (relating to processing, safety, hygienic standards, regulatory framework, market applications, functional and nutritional properties) to educate the market, and represent the business accordingly.
- Undertake market research to ascertain trends, evaluating demand for products and/or services, and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors, considering price trends and their impact on future negotiations, activities, etc.
- Oversee purchase order processing, order fulfillment plan, maintenance of contract pricing, and supply reports.
- Coordination of back-office sales activities including export documentation and price setting.
- Work independently and with customer and supplier R&D; groups to develop niche customer solutions, broadening portfolio uses and sales options for ingredients.
- Ensure responsible inventory levels, accurately managing actual and forecasted inventory levels and budget volume achievement.
Education, experience, and personal characteristics
- Bachelor / Master degree, preferably in animal nutrition, food technology or similar;
- Demonstrated knowledge in pet food formulation and/or animal nutrition principles;
- Minimum of 2-3 years in a commercial role in a relevant industry; preferably in food or food ingredients and/or commodity B2B setting;
- Proven experience in animal feed or nutrition B2B sales environment;
- Experienced in dynamic markets, focused on clear performance indicators.
