Currently they are looking for an experienced and innovative Coordinator Contracts & Procurement (Level 9) to lead the talented team and help shape the future of procurement across the City.
Please note this role is offered on a full time, fixed term, 12 month contract.
The Role
Reporting to the Director Corporate Strategy & Performance, this senior leadership role oversees the City's Contracts & Procurement Sub‐Unit. You will champion strategic procurement activities, strengthen contract management capabilities organisation‐wide, and ensure best-practice, value‐driven procurement outcomes.
This role requires a leader who can balance people management, technical expertise, and strategic forward planning. You'll cultivate a collaborative and high‐performing culture, working closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality procurement, category management and contract governance functions.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, mentor and develop the Contracts & Procurement Sub‐Unit, driving accountability, engagement and high performance
* Create and deliver a strategic roadmap for procurement and contract management that aligns with corporate objectives
* Provide authoritative guidance on procurement strategy, governance, and market intelligence to leaders, suppliers and stakeholders
* Implement category management frameworks and enhance procurement methodologies
* Oversee tenders, procurement processes and contract administration in line with legislation, corporate policies and standards
* Design and deliver training programs covering procurement policy, compliance and contract management.
* Build strong networks with internal departments, suppliers, agencies and partner organisations
* Produce timely, accurate and audience‐specific reports, insights and recommendations
* Encourage continuous improvement and innovation across procurement and contract management practices
* Maintain high standards of governance, compliance, risk oversight, system integrity and data quality
About You
You are an experienced procurement professional with a strategic mindset and hands-on capability. You enjoy building relationships, leading teams and elevating organisational maturity through collaboration and improvement.
You will bring:
* A tertiary qualification in a relevant field
* Significant experience in procurement, contract management, public tendering and contract administration
* Demonstrated leadership and team development capability
* Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
* Experience overseeing contractor performance and KPIs
* Advanced skills in spend analysis, category management and procurement planning
* Excellent communication, organisational and problem‐solving abilities
* Sound understanding of WHS obligations and risk management
* High digital literacy, including experience with procurement or contract management systems
