Auxiliary Firefighter Role
As an auxiliary firefighter, you will be part of a team that responds to fire and other emergency incidents. This role requires individuals who are committed to community safety and emergency preparedness.
About the Role
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland through effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities in emergency situations.
This role is unique as it is the only entity in Australia that delivers high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency.
Key Responsibilities
* Respond to fire and other emergency incidents as a member of a team.
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness by contributing to community education activities.
* Develop and maintain competencies by actively participating in regular drills and training courses provided by QFES to ensure safety and effectiveness on the fire ground.
* Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training.
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Requirements
* Mandatory requirements include employers' written consent to attend incidents and emergencies, living or working within a reasonable distance of an auxiliary fire station, Australian permanent resident status, and a manual C-class driver's license.
* You must commit to attending 50% of calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% of calls as a shift worker with non-routine hours.
* Attending 75% of regular drill and training sessions is also mandatory.
* Obtaining an MRV license within 12 months of employment is required.
* Participating in ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care, is essential.
