Primary objective
To provide strong leadership on all aspects of the operational management of services for the Community Justice Centre in accordance with the Community Justice Centre Act 2005 (NT). This position works closely with the Director of the Community Justice Centre to develop, implement and promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms across a range of dispute environments.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate all Community Justice Centre services from the point of enquiry, including Territory-wide training.
2. Manage a regional caseload including completing suitability assessments and overseeing all case arrangements.
3. Supervise, train and support staff and a panel of sessional mediators delivering services in a complex setting.
4. Coordinate and facilitate professional development opportunities for internal and external stakeholders.
5. Assist with service promotion activities including delivering presentations and developing resources.
6. Draft sound policies and procedures to ensure continuous service improvement, consistent with industry best practice.
7. Maintain and oversee case records, statistical data and reports on a client management system.
8. Assist with research and external briefings and reports, as required.
9. Undertake the responsibilities of the Work Health and Safety Representative, if required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated Alternative Dispute Resolution experience with a strong focus on the facilitative processes across a range of dispute contexts.
2. Strong cultural competence and understanding of the remote community service context for the Northern Territory.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
4. Demonstrated experience and skills in managing the delivery of frontline services, including identifying and implementing innovative ways to improve services with proven ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
5. Ability to provide accurate and informed advice in accordance with legislation, policy and best practice guidelines.
6. Experience in delivering training either under the Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standards or previous National Mediator Accreditation System.
Desirable
1. Qualification in Alternative Dispute Resolution or related discipline.
2. Tertiary Qualifications in law, social sciences, community development or a related discipline.
