Shi Hu Shi, Hotel Sorrento's premium Cantonese dining room, is seeking an experienced Wok Chef to join our kitchen team. This is a rare opportunity to work in a focused, high-quality Asian kitchen within one of the Mornington Peninsula's most iconic hospitality venues.
Our menu is built around authentic Cantonese flavours, fresh local produce and precision wok cooking. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their craft, thrives during service, and understands the rhythm and intensity of a true wok section.
About the role
* Running the wok section during lunch and dinner service
* Cooking high-quality Cantonese and Asian-inspired dishes
* Preparing sauces, marinades, stocks and stir-fry components
* Maintaining consistency, speed and presentation under pressure
* Working closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and wider kitchen brigade
* Upholding hygiene, food safety and quality standards
What we're looking for
* Proven experience as a Wok Chef or in a Cantonese/Asian kitchen
* Strong understanding of wok heat, timing and technique
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume service environment
* High standards, attention to detail and pride in your food
* Reliable, punctual and team-focused
* Availability across nights, weekends and peak trading periods
