About The Role
On-Call Firefighters work from their local Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Fire Station and are responsible for undertaking a wide range of duties including community fire safety work, attending fires and other emergencies such as motor vehicle accidents or chemical hazards, community education on fire prevention and safety for school children, senior citizens and local businesses, and collaboration with other emergency services such as NSW Ambulance, NSW Rural Fire Service and NSW Police. On-Call Firefighters are paid for attendance at incidents, training sessions, community safety and education activities.

- On-call hours; ongoing employment
- Base retainer of $80.63 per fortnight + $34.14 per hour for incident and drill attendance
About You
On-Call Firefighters play a crucial role in protecting people, property and the environment in their local communities. To be successful you need to be team oriented, community-focused, adaptable, reliable and have availability across weekdays and/or weekends, including day and/or night work. You must live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station to respond promptly to emergency incidents.
- Essential Requirements
- Valid NSW Driver's Licence (minimum P1)
- Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Live and/or work within a reasonable distance of the FRNSW Fire Station
Training is provided on an ongoing basis and covers: basic life support, rope work, power tool use and community engagement skills.
Minimum Availability and Attendance Requirements
At least 33% of all calls over a six-month period and a minimum of 80% of all calls received by the brigade during the compulsory availability in any four-week period, together with no less than 75% drill attendance.
