About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Leader Health & Regulations, you'll lead both Parking and Regulations teams – high‐visibility services responsible for community safety, education, customer experience and regulatory compliance. You'll guide leaders and specialists operating in dynamic environments, providing coaching, structure and direction while ensuring consistent and defensible enforcement. You'll also support the development of contemporary policies and procedures, lead proactive community engagement, and contribute to strategic planning and service improvement initiatives that enhance how Launceston moves, lives and connects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop two diverse frontline teams across Parking and Regulations
* Build a cohesive, high‐performing culture through coaching and clear expectations
* Interpret and apply legislation, policy and by‐laws with consistency and confidence
* Provide governance leadership and ensure defensible regulatory decision‐making
* Deliver projects, asset management and contract management activities
* Represent Council professionally in high‐risk forums, including court when required
* Drive proactive education, engagement and media initiatives to support voluntary compliance
* Support Coordinators to build capability and succession capacity
* Collaborate across internal teams and external agencies to resolve complex issues
About You
You're an emotionally intelligent, confident people‐leader who brings structure, steadiness and strong communication to fast‐paced, public‐facing environments. You thrive on making informed decisions, supporting your team, and translating strategy into practical outcomes.
You'll bring:
* Leadership experience in complex, public‐facing or regulatory environments
* Strong judgement in applying legislation, policy and governance frameworks
* Demonstrated success lifting performance and leading change
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Confidence managing sensitive community interactions and high‐risk situations
* Experience or interest in project, asset and contract management
A current driver's licence and ability to obtain a Working with Vulnerable People check are required.
