Alstom has been awarded the PTA Australia's $1.6 billion Railcar Program. As part of the project we will design, manufacture and maintain 246 new railcars needed for METRONET projects and the replacement of the A-series trains. We will also deliver 6 DMU railcars to replace the five diesel railcars that operate the twice daily Australind service between Perth and Bunbury.
We are searching for a team of Trades Assistants to join our new Electrical Shed Team.
This is a great opportunity for non-qualified Trades Assistant's, who have experience or interest in an electrical environment to undergo an internal training program in partnership with TAFE to become competent in Alstom's process of, wiring, cabling, crimping and cutting.
**Key Responsibilities include**:
Working with qualified Electricians in the Electrical Shed
Cutting individual wires to length to form part of a loom (group of wires)
Simple point to point validation to be able to assign and place wire marker on both ends of a wire
Strip and crimp various types of crimp connectors onto the wires
Cable tie the wires together in respective paths to form a loom
Work with our state of the art AOS system for work orders and process improvement
Working as part of a team to meet production targets ensuring safety and quality standards are met
**Qualifications, Skills and Experience required include**:
Experience in Electrical production or assembly is highly regarded
Experience as a Trades Assistant working
Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions
EHS focus as number 1 priority of all jobs
Good team player ready to be part of a new team
