This has resulted in the creation of a highly modular and scalable product suite, which have become integral to a wide range of critical Defence capabilities.

The Position

As the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the Company's premises and facilities on an operational basis, including lease compliance, maintenance contracts and associated repair, construction and/or scheduled maintenance work.

The successful candidate with ensure Australian Standard compliance, proper, safe and efficient operation of all buildings and plant, to provide a functional and safe working environment for all CEA employees.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities Management

* Ensure safety in the workplace, address identified health and safety risks in a timely manner to maintain a safe working environment for all CEA staff, with respect to assigned facilities, plant and associated work processes.
* Manage risk, and sustainability, in regards to facilities management.
* People performance; establish, manage and maintain sufficient personnel resources, skills and competencies within the facilities team.
* Facility maintenance planning and management, incorporating lifecycle management and condition appraisal. Implement effective strategic maintenance and risk management in regards to assets.
* Managing of facilities workload and ad-hoc maintenance requests in regards to CEA staff and contractors.
* Ensure delivery of services reflects excellent standards of repairs and maintenance, providing a safe and professional environment for staff and visitors.
* Understanding of plans, specifications, compliance, code of practice, and Australian Standards
* Provide expert advice on use and design in the facilities environment.
* Adopting innovative practices and understanding of best practice in regards to facilities and asset management.
* Effective purchasing strategies to provide value for money for CEA.
* Assist with developing budgets, financial plans & manage expenditure within the approved facilities budget throughout the financial year period.
* Understand principles of contract law in regards to managing maintenance contracts for various services.

Other Duties

* Provide operational support to CEA programs as required.
* Conduct duties as a contributing member of the WHS committee, and ensure safety issues involving corporate facilities are resolved in a timely manner.
* Support Accounts in effective purchasing, and invoice control to CEA guidelines.
* Write department procedures, work instructions and guidelines and participate in internal audit processes as required under the Quality Management System. Establish maintenance procedures and safe work method statements as required.
* Build and maintain close working relationships with CEA staff and external stakeholders.
* Ensure external contractors and visitors are directed and escorted around premises as required.
* Managing capital works project delivery as required
* Attend to out-of-hours incidents of an urgent nature, and conduct facilities management activities not normally possible during standard working hours.
* Document and report writing, development of business cases based on operational requirements.
* Communicate with other departments in order to minimise the disruption resulting from any required maintenance work.
* Other duties as directed by the Building Services Manager or Infrastructure and Services Manager.

Our Ideal Candidate:

* Trade qualifications coupled with at least 5 years 'hands-on' trade experience, ideally in the building/ construction industry.
* Experience with facilities maintenance, and property management of commercial premises.
* Professional Facilities Management accreditation or equivalent experience.
* Excellent staff management, mentoring skills.
* A strong service oriented work ethic.
* A strong sense of company pride and presentation.
* Highly self-motivated and able to operate autonomously.
* Able to meet deadlines and juggle multiple and conflicting priorities.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Able to build strong relationships at all levels (internal and external).
* Sound financial management skills.
* Service Agreements/Contracting skills.
* Prepared to perform manual tasks as required Strong commitment to safety and understanding of WHS legislation / regulations / standards.
* Knowledge of basic First Aid.
* Understanding of asset management principles.

Qualifications/certifications:

* Diploma of Facilities Management (ability to obtain within 24 months of commencement): Required
* Current Drivers Licence: Required
* Asbestos Awareness: Required
* White Card: Required
* CMMS experience: Required
* MS Office: Intermediate
* CAD experience: Desirable
* Safe Working at Heights: Desirable
* Fork Lift Licence: Desirable
* EWP Course: Desirable
* Diploma of Project Management: Desirable
