Primary Objective
The Health and Safety Project Advisor supports the organization's Health and Safety Strategy by enhancing safety and wellbeing outcomes across the business.
This role is responsible for the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Work Health and Safety (WHS) and wellbeing initiatives. It provides expert advice, delivers proactive programs, and partners with leaders and employees to foster a positive safety culture that prioritizes both physical and psychosocial health, while ensuring compliance with WHS legislation.
Key Accountabilities
Team Contribution
* Contribute to a culture of care, professionalism, and accountability
* Collaborate across teams to drive continuous improvement
* Act as a positive ambassador of organisational values
WHS & Wellbeing Strategy and Initiatives
* Support the development and implementation of WHS and wellbeing strategies and action plans
* Lead and coordinate WHS and wellbeing projects (including safety culture and mental health initiatives)
* Integrate wellbeing and psychosocial considerations into workplace practices
Advisory and Support
* Provide practical WHS and wellbeing advice to leaders and employees
* Support hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk management
* Assist in developing and reviewing WHS policies, procedures, and tools
Risk Management and Assurance
* Support risk assessments and implementation of control measures
* Assist with incident and hazard investigations, including root cause analysis
* Monitor safety performance and contribute to reporting and continuous improvement
Training, Engagement and Consultation
* Coordinate and support WHS and wellbeing training programs
* Promote consultation with employees and Health & Safety Representatives (HSRs)
* Support communication and engagement initiatives to build safety culture
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
* Monitor WHS legislative requirements and provide advice
* Support audits, reviews, and assurance activities
* Maintain accurate WHS records and documentation
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
* Qualification in Work Health & Safety or equivalent experience
* Certified Return to Work Coordinator
* Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulations, and codes of practice
* Experience in a WHS advisory role
* Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and compliance activities
Desirable
* Experience delivering WHS or wellbeing programs and initiatives
* Understanding of psychosocial risk and mental health frameworks
* Knowledge of safety culture and continuous improvement practices
