Overview
LEADER GRAPHICS.
The Mechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, maintenance, and reliability of all mechanical systems across the facility.
This includes, but is not limited to, the manufacturing of steel frames for printing equipment, printing press machinery, finishing equipment, material handling systems, and other plant infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical expertise and play a critical role in maintaining production efficiency, minimizing downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Salary: $76,515 to $85,000 plus Super depending on experience
Responsibilities
Mechanical Systems Maintenance & Repair
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on all mechanical systems including printing presses, finishing equipment, material handling systems, and steel frame fabrication machinery.
Diagnose and troubleshoot breakdowns to reduce production downtime and maintain workflow continuity.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records.
Printing & Finishing Equipment Support
Ensure smooth operation of offset and digital printing presses, rollers, feeders, laminating machines, binding machines, and trimming equipment.
Align and calibrate components to maintain print quality standards.
Steel Frame Fabrication & Custom Mechanical Builds
Oversee assembly and maintenance of steel frames and structural components for printing operations.
Support custom mechanical projects for new installations or process improvements.
Pneumatic, Hydraulic & Conveyor Systems
Maintain pneumatic actuators, air compression systems, hydraulic presses, and conveyors for efficient material handling.
Monitor and adjust tension control systems and automated feeding mechanisms.
Installation & Commissioning
Assist in installing and commissioning new equipment, ensuring correct setup, alignment, and calibration to meet specifications.
Quality Control & Compliance
Conduct mechanical inspections and performance checks to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing programs.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare maintenance reports, fault diagnostics, and recommendations for improvements.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
Relevant trade qualification (at least Diploma level) OR at least 3 years of hands-on work experience could substitute formal training
Demonstrated skills in handling of mechanical systems and components
Able to work unsupervised
Ability to work under pressure
