Project Accountant Job Description
Our client, a renowned property development company on the Gold Coast, is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to support their expanding pipeline of residential and commercial projects.
This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially-minded finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced development environment and enjoys working closely with project teams to drive positive outcomes.
The Opportunity
* Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll take ownership of financial management across multiple development projects, ensuring accurate reporting, strong budget control and clear visibility over project performance.
* You'll partner with internal stakeholders, builders, consultants and financiers to support decision-making, manage cashflow and underpin successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage project budgets, forecasts, cashflow and variance analysis across multiple developments
* Track and reconcile project costs, invoices, subcontractor claims and progress payments
* Prepare monthly project reporting packs, including work-in-progress (WIP), cost-to-complete and margin analysis
* Assist with feasibility reviews, scenario modelling and financial analysis for new development opportunities
* Liaise with quantity surveyors, external consultants, lenders and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate financial information
* Prepare funding drawdowns, support lender reporting requirements and maintain compliance documentation
* Contribute to project governance, financial controls and continuous improvement of reporting processes
* Support the business with month-end, budgeting and strategic planning activities
About You
You are a proactive, detail-driven senior finance professional with experience in property development, construction, real estate or project-focused environments.
You'll bring:
* Experience across project accounting and property development finance-related functions
* Strong financial modelling, budget management and cost-tracking skills
* Ability to partner with project managers, builders, banks and external consultants
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solutions-focused mindset
* Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or Finance, along with relevant qualifications (CA/CPA/CIMA)
