Role Overview
The classroom teacher classification comprises two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus of the classroom teacher is the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
Teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills, effectively engage students and enhance learning.
Teachers gain experience, contributing to the school program beyond the classroom and may be required to undertake additional duties, provided they are appropriate to the salary range, qualifications, training and experience.
Range 2 Responsibilities
Use content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students
Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach colleagues in critical reflection of practice
Provide expert advice on content, processes and strategies that shape individual and school professional learning
Supervise and train one or more student teachers
Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches and achieve learning outcomes
Range 1 Responsibilities
Develop skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support
Teach a range of students and be accountable for effective delivery of programmes
Operate under general direction, following established work practices and guidelines
Assist with supervision and training of one or more student teachers
Participate in policy development, project teams and co-curriculum activities
General Responsibilities
Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students
Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of a curriculum area or other programme
Undertake classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal
Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions
Undertake non-teaching supervisory duties
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Program Benefits
This position has been advertised as part of the Targeted Financial Incentives (TFI) programme and includes incentive and retention payments.
Payments are only applicable if the successful candidate meets the eligibility criteria.
A pro-rata commencement incentive payment up to $50,000 (before-tax)
Reimbursement of relocation expenses up to $5,000 and support to identify suitable housing
Pro-rata retention payments of $10,000 (before-tax) at the conclusion of the second, third and fourth years, for a total of up to $30,000 (each contingent on employment milestones)
TFI Candidate Eligibility
New employee to the school
Commit to a minimum of 2 years of employment
Have not previously received $50,000 (before-tax) or more in commencement TFI payments within the last 5 years
Meet relocation requirements (e.g., normally reside at least 1 hour from the school at the time of application)
Residence not classified as Remote Australia (Vic.) or Outer Regional Australia (Vic.) under the Australian Bureau of Statistics ASGS Edition 3 Remoteness Areas
Qualification Requirements
Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching
Completion of a postgraduate level initial teaching programme on or after 1 January ****, accredited by an Australian State or Territory Teacher Regulatory Authority
For graduates of a Victorian ITE programme after 1 July ****, passing the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) if part of the ITE programme

Ouyen P-12 College, formed in ****, serves students from Prep to Year 12 in the North-West of Victoria.
With an enrolment of 196 students in ****, the college offers a comprehensive curriculum, strong academic results, and extensive co-curriculum activities.
The town of Ouyen has a population of around 1,000, with a surrounding district of about 2,000 residents.
