Offer description

Join to apply for the
Principal Maritime Structural Engineer
role at
KBR, Inc.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for industries including defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your existing maritime structural experience and lead the technical delivery of new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and work with a range of other disciplines across KBR and partners.
While you may know some of our more high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do much more than defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).
This role will see you leverage your maritime structural experience to deliver everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. While this is primarily a technical role, there are opportunities for leadership (project management and design management) and business development (proposal preparation and client positioning).
Who are you?
Our Principal Maritime Structural Engineers typically have more than 15 years of experience with the following skills and experience:
Significant experience in structural design including reinforced concrete and steel in the marine environment.
Significant experience in the design, evaluation and reporting on ports, harbours, coastal works and marine structures (wharves, jetties, port developments, marinas, seawalls, pontoons, etc).
Significant experience in the design of berthing and mooring systems.
Significant experience in using structural analysis software (desirable: SPACE GASS, Strand 7, IDEAStatica).
Experience working with local governments, port clients, and/or the Defence sector.
Experience with maritime Australian and international design codes and guidelines.
Actively driving innovation within the team and providing supervision, guidance and mentoring to less experienced colleagues.
Ability to project manage and/or design manage large maritime projects or teams within larger multidisciplinary projects.
Ability to actively engage with clients, pursue and position for opportunities and leverage existing connections to win work.
Chartered Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain chartership within agreed timeframe).
Tertiary degree qualifications in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Eligibility for Australian Government security clearance.
Don't meet every requirement? That's okay. We are growing our team with a range of diverse professionals. If you don't meet the experience above but think you can contribute, we encourage you to apply and have a chat with us.
