Our client is looking for an experienced, motivated AO3 Housing Officer to join their team located in Caboolture. This position is an exciting opportunity to make your mark in a large government organisation with the opportunity to broaden and grow your skills in the future. You will work with the organisation in a team to provide a high-quality, person-centred social housing and housing assistance service to diverse clients experiencing complex and challenging housing.
Your new role
* Assess new housing and bond loan applications and rental grants; conduct client interviews and make referrals to support service agencies as required.
* Managing tenancy arrangements, including waitlists, allocations and vacancies; liaising with community and other housing providers on allocation of properties and ensuring departmental compliance as the lessor in all tenancy arrangements.
* Conduct home visits to properties and investigate and facilitate the resolution of any tenancy disputes and complaints.
* Monitoring and managing outstanding arrears, rent assessments, pay deductions and refunds; actioning sundry debts and collections.
* Managing the maintenance of properties and conducting property inspections.
* Maintaining accurate client and property records and file notes.
* Provide excellent administrative and customer service support for the department.
* Be able to work autonomously at times and under pressure.
* This is a temporary contract working 5 days per week, business hours Monday to Friday (8.30-4.30pm).
* This role is fully in the office and does not offer work from home.
What you'll need to succeed
* You must have exceptional computer literacy, with proficient experience in Microsoft Office packages.
* Highly developed organisational skills.
* Maturity to handle a range of situations and be able to work to tight deadlines.
* High level of interpersonal and oral communication skills and show loyalty with a high level of confidentiality.
* Understand and can explain to others how your work and the work of your team contributes to the achievement of broader organisational goals.
* Proactively engage with government and with providers to deliver holistic responses to vulnerable clients who are person-centred in approach.
* Embrace new challenges and show resilience during times of change and uncertainty.
* Show strong skills, knowledge and expertise in service delivery with a focus on teamwork and providing person-centred solutions.
