Reporting to the People Director, you’ll join a collaborative HR team and step into a temporary people partnering role while helping shape and modernise our Learning & Development function. You’ll be the key partner for a defined group of leaders during a period of leave, providing trusted support while contributing to the next phase of our L&D uplift. Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to): Deliver high‑quality people partnering in the first six months, acting as a visible, trusted advisor to leaders and teams. Coach and empower leaders, support day‑to‑day people needs, and drive initiatives that uplift leadership capability. Begin shaping our modern L&D approach by designing learning pathways, programs, and foundational development initiatives. Transition to a predominantly L&D‑focused role, building and rolling out scalable, impactful learning experiences across the organisation. This role is based in our Mascot office and follows a hybrid model, with Tuesday and Wednesday as in‑office days each week. Who are we looking for ? The successful candidate will have a deep commitment to Caritas Australia’s mission to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all, as well as a dedication to the principles of Catholic Social Teaching that guide our global efforts. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience: Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business or a related field, with 5 years’ HR generalist experience and at least 2 years as a Business Partner, supporting leaders across the employee lifecycle. Strong L&D capability, including designing and facilitating learning programs, conducting training needs analysis, and creating accessible development pathways that uplift capability. Confident in coaching, influencing and building relationships with leaders, with strong communication skills and the ability to simplify complex people and L&D concepts. Thrives in a collaborative, values‑driven environment, demonstrating adaptability, resilience, and experience working across systems, HR projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
