Your impact
In the position of Communication Technician, you will play a key role in supporting critical mining technology and communications systems at Newmont's Boddington operation.
This is a hands-on, site-based role responsible for maintaining, monitoring and troubleshooting in-cabin technology and surface and underground communication systems to ensure safe, reliable and productive mining operations.
As part of our team you will
Maintain and support in-cabin mining technology, including fleet management systems such as MineStar, fatigue monitoring and collision avoidance systems
Maintain and support surface communication systems including WiFi, Private LTE, leaky feeder and two-way digital radio
Monitor and optimise IT/OT systems to minimise downtime and support continuous operations
Execute preventative maintenance programmes across mining technology and communications infrastructure
Provide first-line technical support and troubleshooting for operators and site users
Assist with the delivery of site technology projects aligned to operational priorities
Work closely with vendors and contractors to support specialist systems and services
Maintain accurate records of assets, faults, maintenance activities and resolutions
Contribute to a strong team culture by being proactive, collaborative and solution-focused
Participate in training to stay current with evolving mining technologies
Prerequisites for your success in the role
Experience supporting mining technology, communications, IT/OT or operational technology systems in a mining or industrial environment
Experience supporting MineStar Systems or similar fleet management and mining technology platforms (desirable)
Communications technology experience supporting site-wide systems such as Private LTE, WiFi or digital radio
Auto-electrical or in-cabin technology exposure to support fleet-based mining systems (desirable)
Networking fundamentals to assist with 5G infrastructure, radar systems or advanced connectivity solutions (desirable)
Strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability across complex systems
A proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to respond quickly to operational issues
Trade, technical qualification or relevant industry experience (degree not essential)
Full and unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia

This permanent, full-time position is based at Newmont's Boddington mine site, approximately 130 km south of Perth.
The role operates on a 7 days on / 7 days off rotating roster (days and nights) and is well suited to individuals who enjoy hands-on, site-based technical work in a fast-paced operational environment.
