Prosecutor Role Overview
The role of a Prosecutor Grade 1-2 is a critical component within the Australian Capital Territory's legal framework. As an independent statutory officer, you will be responsible for prosecuting summary hearings, appearing in mention lists in the Magistrate's Court and Children's Court, and acting as an instructing solicitor in trials in the Supreme Court.
Your primary duty will be conducting summary hearings, which involve presenting evidence and arguments to support the prosecution's case. This requires strong research skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
In addition to your core responsibilities, you will also be required to participate in a Saturday court roster and public holiday court roster. This demonstrates the importance of flexibility and adaptability in this role.
To succeed in this position, you must be admitted to or eligible to practice as a legal practitioner in the ACT. A strong understanding of the legal system and relevant legislation is essential.
