Pain Medicine Trainee Applications are invited for Pain Medicine accredited trainee position/s for the Core Training Stage (CTS) / Practice Development Stage (PDS) of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FPM) training program at the Royal Hobart Hospital, Hobart, Tasmania. The applicant must fulfil the requirements to be a registered trainee of the FPM, ANZCA and actively working towards achieving the fellowship through completion of pain medicine training program of the FPM, ANZCA. Persistent Pain Service, Royal Hobart Hospital The Persistent Pain Service at the Royal Hobart Hospital is the only tertiary referral pain service in Tasmania and is accredited as a Level 1 training unit of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, ANZCA. The Persistent Pain Service is a multidisciplinary service consisting of Specialist Pain Medicine Physicians with primary specialties of Neurosurgery, ENT, Rheumatology, Anaesthesia and General Practice along with psychiatrist, pain nurses, allied health including physiotherapy and psychology, and administration staff. The Royal Hobart Hospital The RHH has a great team to support our junior medical staff. We provide excellent clinical experience, mentoring, education, training and support and have strong social networks. A comprehensive range of general and specialty medical and surgical services are provided including many state-wide services such as cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, extensive burns treatment, hyperbaric medicine, neonatal & paediatric intensive care and high-risk obstetrics. Critical care services are often the patients' first point of contact and are divided into intensive care services and emergency medicine services. As a major tertiary referral centre, we have facilities including MRI's, PET scanners, a Paediatric ICU, and a hyperbaric chamber. Superannuation and salary packaging Support and dynamic work environment Strong Professional and social networks A unique and well-balanced lifestyle $134,930 – 189,005 per annum 11.5% superannuation access to salary packaging Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022 Classification Medical Practitioner Level 5-11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar) Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022 Period of Employment Fixed term full time day work, 76 hours plus 10 hours protected training time (pro rata) per fortnight, effective 2 February 2026 until 1 February 2027 (24 months negotiable). Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies. Location Royal Hobart Hospital, Persistent Pain Service The Registrar is responsible for the day-to-day management of private & public inpatients/outpatients and provides afterhours emergency cover at the hospital as required. General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements). Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer of any new criminal convictions and/or if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered. The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.
