Are you a talented architectural designer who thrives in a flexible, creative environment? Do you love taking ownership of your work and seeing projects through to completion? We're looking for an experienced, self-motivated designer to join our small, passionate team working on boutique custom homes and unit development projects.
Who We Are
We're a design-focused studio committed to creating thoughtful, well-crafted homes that genuinely improve the lives of the people who live in them. Every project we take on is unique, and we pride ourselves on providing clients with bespoke, highly considered solutions. We handle every stage of a project in-house — from initial design, town planning and council submissions, through to construction documentation and interiors — allowing us to maintain tight quality control and deliver cohesive, well-resolved outcomes. This requires us engaging external consultants where needed and getting our hands dirty. We're looking for someone adaptable and curious, who's comfortable working across this variety and enjoys being involved in every stage of a project. We use ArchiCAD across all our projects and value quality design with well thought-out solutions.
About the Role
This is not your average desk job. You'll have the freedom to work independently, combining time in our friendly office with the option to work from home. We're looking for someone who can take initiative, communicate clearly, and confidently carry projects through to documentation with limited supervision. You'll also need to be reliable under pressure and capable of meeting deadlines without sacrificing design quality.
What You'll Be Doing
* Documenting boutique residential homes and unit developments
* Developing concepts, Town Planning and Construction documentation, and detailing in ArchiCAD
* Coordinating with consultants and navigating approvals
* Managing your own time and workflow with autonomy
* Working to project timelines and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Contributing to a studio that values creativity, collaboration, and craftsmanship
What We're Looking For
* Minimum 6+ years of experience in architectural design
* Proficiency in ArchiCAD preferred or other BIM software considered
* Strong understanding of residential design and regulatory framework; BCA and planning standards
* Ability to research relevant information direct from required authorities
* Able to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
* Proactive, organised, and confident in delivering projects independently
* Excellent communication and time management skills
* Confident to research and follow up authorities with ability to follow instructions accurately
* Must live local as office time will be required
What We Offer
* Flexible work hours and a mix of in-office and remote work
* A chance to create meaningful, design-led work without red tape
* Opportunities for growth and increasing responsibility
* Supportive, low-ego environment where your input matters
* A work culture that values balance, initiative, and good design
