The Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) is committed to ensuring every child and young person in Tasmania is known, safe, well and learning. The Student Support Branch provides statewide leadership and specialist services to improve student engagement, wellbeing and attendance. This role operates within a complex environment requiring collaboration across schools, business units and external stakeholders to deliver evidence-informed strategies that strengthen attendance practices and contribute to improved educational outcomes.
About The Role
The Manager – Student Attendance provides strategic leadership and authoritative decision-making to develop and implement a system-wide approach to improving school attendance. The role is accountable for shaping statewide policy, operational frameworks and resource allocation that directly influence departmental objectives and compliance with national priorities.
The position leads the design and delivery of evidence-informed strategies, including multi-tiered systems of support, to build workforce capability and ensure consistent implementation of attendance practices across the Department. It provides high-level advice to the Secretary and Minister, informs strategic decision-making, and drives initiatives that have a significant impact on organisational outcomes.

We are looking for
Essential
* A registered teacher with full registration within the meaning of the Teachers Registration Act 2000.
* Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment
Desirable
* Relevant experience in a similar role
