The opportunity
We are seeking a Payroll Manager to join our Finance team in a key leadership role within a purpose‑driven Queensland not‑for‑profit organisation.
This role will provide management and leadership to the payroll department, and drive the successful implementation of a new HRIS platform.
This role is well‑suited to a Payroll Manager who excels technically and leads with a supportive, relationship‑focused approach.

Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and management to the IFYS Payroll team
Maintain responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of the IFYS payroll
Lead the implementation of a new HRIS and Payroll package, and ensure ongoing system and process efficiency
Ensure compliance with federal and state requirements (e.g. tax, superannuation & award) and enforce adherence
Complete end of pay cycle and month-end responsibilities, including reconciliations with the general ledger
Review and undertake manual calculations for pay errors, bonuses, redundancies and terminations.
Oversee processes that support employee payroll data (e.g. new employee setup, changes to employee data)
Maintain payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
Prepare annual regulatory reports, including Work Cover, Q Leave and Fringe Benefits
Complete analysis and reporting on payroll data as required
Requirements Of The Role
Demonstrated experience in a similar Payroll Manager position
Ability to interpret and apply award rules (experience with SCHADS award is highly desired)
Strong systems proficiency in payroll software and the Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
Ability to analyse data with precision, supported by thorough quality checks
Proven success in training an developing a team, and effective change management
Must hold or be willing to obtain if successful
Valid Queensland Driver's Licence with no restrictions
QLD Working with Children Check (Paid Blue Card)
Licensed Care Suitability Check (LCS2)
Ability to provide two references from recent employers (including your current line manager)
National Crime Check (a new check will be completed through IFYS system)
