About The Role We're seeking dedicated deckhands to ensure the safety and comfort of our passengers while enhancing their experience on board our vessels.
As a deckhand, you'll assist with a variety of responsibilities including passenger boarding, ticketing, and delivering safety briefings.
You'll also have the opportunity to lead guided snorkel tours, provide insightful reef interpretation talks, manage line handling, conduct Island Heritage walks, and serve as a vigilant safety lookout.
Key responsibilities will include : Provide a high level of customer service, high standards of professionalism and act in a friendly and helpful manner.
Ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers on board.
Engage with passengers and provide details about Sailaway products and services including reading materials, merchandise and activities.
Manage passenger boarding process including set up, checking the manifest, money collection and headcount.
Ensure equipment is washed and stored in the best possible manner, ready for the next day's use.
Work under the direction of the Master, proving assistance as requested with vessel equipment and operation.
Assist with food and beverage preparation and distribution on vessel and on land ensuring compliance with food handling and beverage regulations.
Conduct Safety Briefs, Snorkelling Briefs, Guided Snorkel Tour and Island Walk.
Provide assistance to customers with snorkelling equipment.
About You As the ideal candidate, you will have a genuine passion for the tourism industry and a strong dedication to providing unforgettable experiences for our guests.
You will thrive as a collaborative team player, and have the ability to remain composed in high-pressure, fast-paced situations.
You will be comfortable with public speaking, maintain a high standard of personal presentation, and possess the physical capability to undertake tasks such as handling lines and executing emergency response activities, including in-water rescues if required.
