Lead Business Analyst
The Lead Business Analyst plays a pivotal role in shaping and uplifting business analysis practices within Toyota Finance Australia (TFA). This role provides strategic business analysis support across a specific domain, ensuring the consistent application of BA standards and driving the quality of BA outcomes on complex programs, people leadership and initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Contribute hands‐on as a Senior BA on complex and strategic initiatives when required, balancing leadership responsibilities with direct delivery impact.
* Align domain delivery to organisational strategy and Agile ways of working, supporting scaled Agile practices like PI Planning and cross‐team dependency management.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing while driving customer‐focused outcomes, risk and compliance alignment, and measurable business value.
* Lead, coach, and mentor Business Analysts and Senior BAs within your domain, supporting performance development, career growth, and capability uplift.
* Ensure consistent BA standards are embedded across initiatives, driving high‐quality business requirements and traceability from Epics to Features to User Stories.
* Partner with Domain Owners, Product Management, Architecture, and Portfolio stakeholders to shape and prioritise Epics and Features aligned to strategic objectives.
* Contribute to portfolio planning, dependency management, and risk mitigation to enable seamless delivery of value.
* Lead requirements elicitation, analysis, and solution alignment for high‐impact initiatives.
* Oversee the definition, refinement, and traceability of Epics, Features and User Stories to ensure alignment with business goals and architectural direction.
* Support scaled Agile delivery through PI Planning, backlog readiness, and cross‐team dependency management.
* Enable a smooth flow of value by proactively resolving impediments and ensuring initiatives align with strategic priorities.
* Drive continuous exploration through customer feedback loops, innovation spikes, and lean experimentation.
* Support the measurement of business outcomes using KPIs, OKRs, and SAFe Lean metrics.
Qualifications
* Degree qualification in Business, Information Systems, IT, Data, or a related field.
* Agile / SAFe(R) certifications strongly preferred (e.g. SAFe POPM / SA, PSM II, PSPO II, PMI‐ACP).
* 8–10+ years of business analysis experience with proven hands‐on delivery in Agile or SAFe environments.
* At least 3–5 years in a leadership capacity, including mentoring, coaching, and line‐managing BAs and Senior BAs.
* Experience contributing as a Senior BA on complex, cross‐domain initiatives while balancing leadership responsibilities.
* Strong background working with Product Management, Domain Owners, Architecture, and Portfolio teams to shape epics, manage dependencies, and ensure alignment.
* Financial services experience highly regarded, particularly with Australian regulatory obligations (privacy, consumer credit, compliance).
* Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and negotiation skills to manage competing priorities and drive alignment.
* Advanced skills in requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation with clear traceability from Epics to Features to Stories.
* Technical proficiency in Jira, Confluence, BPMN / UML modelling, and Excel / SQL; experience with BI tools like Power BI or Tableau is desirable.
