Primary objective

This position focuses on strengthening Aboriginal educator workforce capacity across a number of schools. It is responsible for

supporting school leaders to create environments that enable Aboriginal educator career progression as well as supporting

Aboriginal Educators to engage in professional learning.

Context statement

This position sits in the Aboriginal Educators work unit, who manage the Remote Aboriginal Teacher Education (RATE) program.

This unit is part of the School Leadership, Culture and Care (SLCC) team, a high-trust partner to schools, supporting inclusive, high-

performing learning environments through leadership development, workforce capability, and wellbeing initiatives.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Liaise effectively and professionally with staff at all levels (in school and corporate settings) and external stakeholders (including

course providers) drawing on collaborative expertise, utilising existing scaffolds, and streamlining processes.

2. Support school leaders to strengthen Aboriginal educator workforce capabilities by: allocating resources that enable Aboriginal

educators to pursue professional learning and career development; implementing effective team-teaching practices; and

valuing the expertise of Aboriginal educators in inclusive and welcoming learning environments.

1. Identify professional learning opportunities that align with Aboriginal educator career aspirations and professional leaning goals

as well as school and regional Aboriginal workforce development priorities.

1. Coach and mentor Aboriginal educators to access and manage resources for study success and engage in team-teaching

opportunities that strengthen links between study and classroom practice.

1. Gather and analyse accurate RATE participant data across a number of schools to track progress, identify priority areas for

support and contribute to program level data collection.

1. Administer travel and communications in line with Government policy and processes outlined in program guides.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Northern Territory cultural, social and economic environments.
2. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to analyse data, manage competing priorities and adapt to change.
3. Highly developed interpersonal and verbal communication skills utilized to collaborate in a wide range of educational, industry

and/or community environments to achieve mutually agreed actions and goals.

1. Highly developed writing skills, with experience preparing reports, work plans and other high-level correspondence.
2. Ability to work independently to a high standard and solve problems to deliver outcomes in complex environments.

3. Knowledge, understanding and experience in developing and/or supporting professional learning in line with English as

Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) practice and adult learning principles.

7. Demonstrated capability to operate effectively in a range of community and corporate settings while modelling

professionalism, ethics, workplace values and accountability.

8. Demonstrated ability to engage respectfully and effectively with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Desirable

1. Teaching degree, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or other qualification relevant to the role.

2. Experience working within VET and/or Higher Education settings.

Further information

Applicants are required to have a current working with children clearance notice (Ochre Card), a current driver's licence, and be

willing to travel remotely by 4WD and in light aircraft. This position requires staying overnight in remote communities.
