About the Role:
ALS Coal at Richlands is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Geologist to join our team. This hands-on role involves both field and laboratory work, supporting coal seam gas assessment projects. You will gain practical experience across a range of geological tasks and contribute to key operations within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct field-based geological activities, including core and cuttings sampling, gas desorption analysis, and gas composition sample collection
* Perform detailed core and cuttings logging, data entry, and compilation of drill hole information
* Prepare final geological logs and gas desorption reports
* Carry out laboratory-based gas desorption testing, along with equipment calibration and maintenance
* Assist with mobilisation/demobilisation of teams and equipment to and from site
* Participate in the rig-up and rig-down of field equipment
* Maintain confidentiality across all projects and company operations
Requirements:
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended shifts hours), weekends, public holidays, and travel as required (local and interstate)
* Ability to work in varying field conditions and climates
* Tertiary Qualifications in Geology or Earth Science
* Strong attention to detail and a proactive work ethic
* Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
* Experience in collecting and analysing desorbing gas from coal core
