About This Opportunity

Two Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions are available to join Professor Felicity Meakins on the Australian Research Council Laureate project 'Amplifying Indigenous Ecological Knowledge in Western Science with Language'.

These roles offer an exciting opportunity to develop a three-year research program at the intersection of First Nations language and ecology. Applicants are encouraged to propose projects aligned with their expertise, such as linguistic description, computational biology, pedagogy, creative arts and/or Indigenous Knowledges, developed in partnership with one or more First Nations communities with whom they have an existing or emerging relationship. Alternatively, a range of potential projects are available for discussion with Professor Meakins prior to application.

The positions provide intellectual independence, sustained research support, long-term career development and the chance to work at the forefront of ethical, community-engaged research.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limed to:

Research

* Produce quality research outputs consistent with discipline norms by publishing or exhibiting in high quality outlets.

* Develop a coherent research program and an emerging research profile.

* Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.

Teaching

* Teach one course a year in the Linguistics Major or the Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Language Revitalisation.

Supervision and Researcher Development

* Contribute to the effective supervision of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students (as appropriate).

Citizenship and Service

* Demonstrate citizenship behaviours that align to the UQ values.

* Collaborate in First Nations service activities external to the immediate organisation unit.

This is a research focused position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ's Criteria for Academic Performance.
