Job Title: Systems Engineer

Location: Canberra or Melbourne
Clearance: NV1 (Mandatory) About the Role
This role sits within CASG supporting the LAND4140 program. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for coordinating and delivering systems engineering activities across the project lifecycle.
You will work closely with both engineering and commercial teams to ensure alignment between technical artefacts and broader program and commercial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and deliver assigned systems engineering activities
* Conduct tender evaluations as part of a Tender Evaluation Working Group
* Develop and refine system requirements
* Provide technical systems engineering input, including drafting and reviewing:
o Statements of Work (SOW)
o CDRLs, DIDs, and DSDs
* Review and assess contract deliverables
* Support development of key engineering plans, including:
o Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP)
o Test & Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP)
o Safety Management Plan
o Configuration Management Plan
* Support documentation for Government submissions
* Provide engineering advice to support Landworthiness compliance
* Lead or contribute to engineering tasks and teams
Core Experience Required
* Strong experience within CASG and Defence acquisition environments
* Deep understanding of the One Defence Capability System (ODCS) lifecycle
* Experience across Defence capital acquisition projects
* Ability to perform complex engineering analysis and evaluation
* Experience ensuring materiel compliance with legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks
* Exposure to:
o Engineering change processes (including Configuration Control Boards)
o Technical certification and compliance
o Defence engineering policies, processes, and plans
* Ability to develop and review systems engineering artefacts across the full lifecycle
* Familiarity with:
o CASG Engineering Management System (EMS)
o CMTL and ERP frameworks
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
* Ability to work independently under limited direction
Desired Experience
* Experience within the Land domain
* Experience leading engineering teams or workstreams
Qualifications & Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
* Minimum 7+ years' recent Defence industry experience
* Demonstrated Systems Engineering experience
* Strong understanding of Defence systems engineering frameworks
* NV1 Security Clearance (active)
* Chartered Engineer status (preferred)
