Description The Role: This role blends the wonder of science with the joy of outdoor learning. You’ll guide Years 5 and 6 through exciting, inquiry-based science lessons while bringing sustainability to life through hands-on garden programs with younger students. The Average Day: Deliver engaging, inquiry-based science lessons that spark curiosity in Years 5 and 6. Bring learning to life by guiding younger students to plant, harvest, and care for the earth. Collaborate with colleagues to weave sustainability concepts across the wider Junior School curriculum. Care for and maintain the productive school garden alongside students, building practical skills and environmental responsibility. Celebrate student learning by connecting science and gardening to real-world problem-solving and community projects. The Person: To be successful in this position, you will have: A passion for inspiring young learners through science, sustainability, and hands-on experiences. Strong knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum, with the ability to design engaging, inquiry-based lessons. Practical gardening skills and an enthusiasm for embedding sustainability into everyday learning. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with students, colleagues, and the wider school community. Flexibility, creativity, and initiative to foster curiosity and ecological responsibility across the Junior School. A valid Victorian Institute Teaching (VIT) registration is a requirement of employment in this position.
