Lead Designer
12-Month Contract + Extensions

As the Lead Experience Designer, you’ll drive user-centric design across multiple digital products and services. Working closely with product managers, researchers, analysts, and developers, you’ll define and implement accessible, scalable design strategies using established design systems.
You'll:
* Lead and coordinate experience design activities within agile teams
* Advocate for user needs through research and testing
* Contribute to and maintain design systems and reusable components
* Ensure high-quality design outputs that meet accessibility standards
* Support consistent, evidence-based design across platforms
* Mentor and guide designers to uplift delivery standards
Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone with:
* Extensive experience in web and mobile interface design
* Demonstrated capability in accessible and inclusive design
* Expertise in design systems, interaction patterns, and component design
* Experience working in agile, cross-functional teams
* Familiarity with Azure DevOps and product lifecycle
* Strong collaboration and communication skills
* Ability to prototype in code (HTML, CSS) is a strong plus
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field.
You’ll play a key role in advancing enterprise-level digital ID and account capabilities—critical infrastructure that underpins Australia’s agricultural, biosecurity, import/export, and relationship management services.
You’ll work on real, meaningful transformation projects—contributing to products that are used daily by internal and external stakeholders, with a strong focus on security, usability, and policy alignment.
