Searson Buck is proud to be partnering with the Department of Police, Fire and Emergency Management. We are searching for a Senior Fire Safety Engineer who will play a critical role providing contemporary guidance and advice to TES staff and external stakeholders.
About the Role
The Senior Fire Safety Engineer will provide professional fire engineering support to staff delivering on-ground services on behalf of the Chief Officer. Negotiating with stakeholders, project managers and design teams will be a regular focus alongside assessing and evaluating fire engineering reports and providing professional and expert advice relating to projects in the built environment.
The Senior Fire Safety Engineer will be responsible for applying statutory requirements including implementation of regulations, policies and plans. They will operate with considerable autonomy in determining priorities whilst applying directions for the Chief Officer.
About You
* Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of built environment legislation, standards, codes and practices and application of these in the regulatory environment.
* Demonstrated technical competence in the field of fire engineering, fire safety systems design and fire safety risk engineering including computer-based modelling.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and manage small teams, negotiate with stakeholders and resolve conflict in a complex regulatory environment.
* Proven ability to work as an effective team member in a dynamic team environment, build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and work in a professional manner.
* Highly developed report writing skills including the ability to undertake research, interpret built environment and associated regulatory information and provide high level advice.
* Demonstrated expertise and ability in making effective and efficient decisions in the built environment where initiative, judgement and professional creativity are required.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
* A degree in Engineering (or acceptance by Engineers Australia as having equivalent qualifications).
* Licensed or eligible to become licensed as a Fire Engineer through Consumer, Building and Occupational Services (CBOS) Tasmania.
Desirable:
* Two years’ experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in a fire engineering / fire safety environment
* Current driver’s license.
