Head of Learning Area - Humanities and Social Sciences

This is a 12 month fixed‑term, full‑time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension (24 months) or permanency.

We are an Inclusive College supporting students across all curriculum areas at all year levels. The Role

The successful applicant will serve as Head of Learning Area (HOLA) – Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS). The role involves leading the contemporary HASS curriculum, promoting active participation, and connecting learning to the real world. Experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General Psychology is desirable, but not essential. The HOLA is expected to build positive relationships with students, families, staff and the wider community, and to drive the effective implementation of WACE courses across ATAR, General and Vocational Pathway Programs.

Key responsibilities include:

* Leading engaging HASS programs and assessments;
* Implementing the CLC Teaching, Learning and Assessment Framework;
* Facilitating staff development and performance improvement;
* Planning and delivering co‑curricular activities that maximise student interest in HASS;
* Maintaining open communication with the College Executive, other Heads of Learning Areas and specialist staff;
* Championing the College’s vision of Imagine, Believe, Inspire and Achieve and commitment to success for all students;
* Fostering a learning culture that prioritises positive student‑teacher relationships and continuous improvement.

Eligibility

To work with us you must:

* Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment;
* Hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia;
* Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start;
* Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit.

o High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
o Demonstrated professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students;
o Demonstrated capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
