The Role
We're seeking a well-rounded and steady-handed Project Manager to lead from the front, not just by hitting deadlines, but by developing the people around them.
This role is ideal for someone who has spent their career in the government, institutional, and education sectors of commercial construction (head contracting), someone who knows how these projects are run and how to build the teams that deliver them.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you'll support 2 live projects at a time (potentially with one in the early design stages, dependent on the tender market and project wins), ranging from $5M to $10M, with some up to $15M. While the role is office-based, you'll spend valuable time on-site, working shoulder to shoulder with your delivery teams to provide direction, structure, and support.
Key to your success in this role:
* Coaching and mentoring Contract Administrators and Site Managers
* Sharing your technical knowledge and judgment to raise team capability
* Driving quality outcomes through structured communication and planning
* Offering a calm, dependable presence on both sites and in meetings
This isn't a role for someone chasing bigger titles or a rapid climb - it's for someone who enjoys building projects and people, and who's ready to lead with a quiet confidence that gets results.
The Builder
A well-regarded and long-established commercial builder (Head Contractor) with a reputation for quality delivery across:
* Government buildings and council assets
* Public and private education projects
* Specialist childcare and early learning environments
* Community, sporting, and recreational facilities
With project values between $3M and $15M, they maintain a strong pipeline of work with repeat government and institutional clients. Their systems are clear, subcontractor relationships are solid, and leadership is consistent and present.
The company culture is stable, loyal, and grounded. Teams are well supported, well structured, and they do not chase volume for the sake of growth. They are now investing in leadership talent - not for a flashy overhaul, but to help an already capable team grow even stronger.

This role is purpose-built for a Project Manager who:
* Has a strong and stable career history with measurable time in prior PM roles
* Has delivered plenty of successful government, school, council, community or sports builds in the local market
* Enjoys mentoring and growing delivery teams, without the ego
* Australian Citizen or holding Permanent residency
* Leads calmly, supports steadily, and knows how to get a team humming
* Has strong technical knowledge, a problem-solving mindset, and a passion for structured delivery
