About the Business
Swordfish Computing is an innovative Adelaide based Digital Science and Technology business. Swordfish was established in 1999 with the goal of providing specialist Computer Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, and Modelling, Simulation and Analysis (MS&A) services in support of Defence Research and Development (R&D) programs within Defence.
Swordfish Computing has grown to over 90 staff who have broad experience across Air, Land, Sea, Joint and Intelligence projects supporting research, development, and sustainment of advanced capabilities.
What We Are Looking For
We are seeking a capable, approachable, and highly organised People & Culture Coordinator to be the first point of contact for employee and supervisor HR enquiries and to deliver high-quality, day-to-day HR operations. This is a people-facing role at the centre of the organisation, where you will build trusted relationships, provide practical guidance on day-to-day employee and supervisor enquiries, and ensure HR processes are followed consistently and professionally.
You will manage core employee lifecycle activities including recruitment coordination, onboarding, probation reviews, and performance check-ins, while maintaining accurate people records and supporting compliance and reporting requirements. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the go-to person for people matters, is confident handling routine HR enquiries independently, and takes pride in running reliable, well-organised HR operations
Part time hours, minimum 30 hours per week may be considered.

Responsibilities
* Act as the first point of contact for employee and supervisor HR enquiries, providing practical guidance on day-to-day people matters and escalating complex issues as required.
* Build trusted relationships with employees and leaders, supporting a positive and consistent employee experience across the organisation.
* Coordinate end-to-end employee lifecycle activities, including recruitment coordination, onboarding, employment changes, and offboarding.
* Manage key people milestones such as probation reviews, performance check-ins, and employment status changes.
* Prepare and maintain accurate HR documentation, including employment contracts, variations, and termination records.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records within the HRIS and electronic filing systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
* Support people-related compliance requirements, including training, WHS, licences, and security registers.
* Produce HR reports and metrics to support internal monitoring and audit requirements.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, templates, policies, and guidance materials.
Skills And Experiences
Qualifications Experience/ Attributes
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a People & Culture / HR Coordinator or similar operational HR role.
* Demonstrated experience acting as a first point of contact for employee and supervisor HR matters.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Confident, professional communicator with the ability to build rapport and trust across the organisation.
* Proactive problem-solver with sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
* High attention to detail and accuracy, particularly in HR documentation and record-keeping.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion at all times.
* High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* Experience or exposure to Defence, Australian Military, or Emergency Services environments will be highly regarded.
Pre-Employment Requirements
* It is a requirement that the successful candidate must provide proof of Australian Citizenship to gain appropriate Defence Security Clearances.
