Position Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has overall responsibility for strategic leadership and operational excellence of the Hospital/Market. The CEO ensures effective delivery of high‐quality, efficient services that meet the needs of patients, physicians, staff, and the community, serves as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors, and partners closely with Surgery Partners, health system partners, and physician leadership to advance organizational objectives.
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities
* Team Leadership – Directly oversee operational leaders in Finance, Business Development, and other functional areas, build a culture of teamwork and performance, and develop professional growth for the team.
* Market Growth – Lead strategic planning for expansion in the region, including physician recruitment, in‐market marketing, and business development.
* Operational Excellence – Guide company‐wide initiatives with Surgery Partners, identify and drive operational opportunities across the hospital, ASCs, and physician practices.
* Board and Management Company Administration – Maintain open, effective communication between the Board, Medical Staff, and Surgery Partners.
* Medical Staff Partnership – Partner with physician leadership, facilitate relationships, and build a strong physician culture.
* Strategic Planning and Execution – Stay current on industry and market conditions, develop short‐ and long‐term plans, and collaborate with physician leadership and Surgery Partners to ensure execution.
* Financial Management – Recommend yearly budgets, oversee resource management, maintain internal controls, and optimize revenue cycle, billing, and collections.
* Community and Partner Relations – Communicate the organization's mission and services, manage health system partnerships, and uphold a positive image.
* Human Resources Management – Delegate responsibilities, manage personnel policies, conduct annual evaluations, and develop the team.
* Facilities Management – Preserve asset value, oversee construction and facility rehabilitation, and maintain disaster and emergency preparedness.
* Compliance – Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal laws and regulations applicable to operations.
* Delivery of Healthcare Services – Promote, deliver, and risk‐manage quality healthcare programs, ensuring patient safety and high levels of patient experience.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business Administration).
* Minimum of eight (8) years of directly related experience with healthcare facilities and/or Group Practice of similar size and structure.
* Experience partnering with physicians and/or leading physician‐led platforms.
* Experience developing and motivating staff, with an understanding of human resources management and employment law.
* Financial acumen, computer proficiency, and data analysis experience; demonstrated ability to develop and oversee large budgets and strategic plans.
* Proven ability to create effective working relationships with physicians, staff, Board members, health system partners, and the community.
* Demonstrated leadership ability and complex organizational management skills.
* Demonstrated flexibility and the ability to address and shift priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a stressful environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills for speaking to large and diverse groups.
* Experience with orthopedics preferred.
* Professional appearance that reflects positively on the organization.
* Regular in‐person attendance in market and ability to work long hours required.
* Maintain confidentiality concerning patient personal, financial, and medical information.
