The business provides independent, evidence-led advisory services relating to trees, vegetation and urban forests.
Its work focuses on helping clients manage risk, meet regulatory and planning requirements, improve canopy outcomes and make informed decisions about vegetation in built environments.

About the Role
Reporting to a Melbourne-based leadership team, this newly created Key Account Manager role is responsible for growing the consultancy's client base and strengthening long-term partnerships across the arboriculture, infrastructure and environmental sectors.
This is a consultative, relationship-led business development role, focused on selling professional advisory and consulting services, not physical products or contracting works.
The role requires the ability to engage credibly with technical specialists internally and a wide range of professional stakeholders externally.
You will work closely with senior consulting arborists, researchers and environmental specialists to identify client needs, develop tailored proposals and support strategic growth initiatives.
The role offers a hybrid working model with flexibility between office-based work, client meetings and remote working.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new business opportunities and grow existing client relationships across government, utilities, infrastructure and environmental sectors
Engage with key stakeholders including council officers, urban forest managers, asset managers, planners, project managers, engineers and sustainability teams
Identify upcoming projects, policy changes and compliance requirements that create demand for arboricultural and urban forestry consulting services
Lead proposal development, tender submissions and client presentations, ensuring technical accuracy and commercial alignment
Collaborate with senior consultants and leadership to shape and execute business development strategies
Maintain accurate CRM records, manage sales pipelines and report on activity and outcomes
Represent the consultancy at industry meetings, briefings and professional forums
About You
A background in arboriculture, horticulture, environmental science, urban forestry or a related discipline, with the ability to speak confidently and credibly about technical services
At least 5 years' experience in business development, account management or consultancy growth roles
Experience selling professional, advisory or consulting services to councils, utilities, developers or infrastructure owners
Strong relationship-building skills with technically minded and regulatory stakeholders
Confidence working across long sales cycles and strategic client engagements
Experience using CRM systems to manage opportunities and report on performance
A professional, consultative communication style suited to science-led environments

Base salary of $105,000 – $120,000, depending on experience
