The Company:
A prominent Perth-based Managed Service Provider (MSP) specialising in IT solutions seeks a highly communicative Desktop Support Engineer to join their team.
The Role:
Provide end-to-end support for clients, focusing on diagnosing hardware and software issues, setting up and maintaining devices, and delivering remote and on-site assistance. This role spans workshop repairs, data transfer, Microsoft 365 configuration, and supporting small business networks across a variety of environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assemble and configure desktop PCs, including hardware installs, cable management, and system testing.
* Diagnose and repair common laptop and desktop issues, including power faults, overheating, and failed components.
* Carry out system builds with Windows installations, updates, and user customisation.
* Provide support via remote access tools to resolve software and email issues.
* Set up Microsoft 365 devices, including account access, MFA, licensing, and email configuration. Assist with mobile and desktop integration for apps like Teams, Outlook, and SharePoint.
* Configure and deploy new laptops and desktops, handling user data transfers and system migrations.
* Install protection agents and ensure security policies are in place on all devices before handover.
* Investigate suspected security breaches, perform malware removal, and apply system hardening measures.
* Run diagnostic and clean-up tools such as SFC and DISM to ensure system health and stability.
* Communicate clearly with clients, explaining technical resolutions in everyday terms.
* Provide hands-on support and user education during service interactions.
* Maintain a helpful, professional attitude in both remote and face-to-face settings.
* Log time accurately in service tickets and provide clear, detailed notes.
* Follow internal procedures and actively contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Tools & Technologies:
* Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive)
* Windows 10/11 and basic macOS support
* ConnectWise (PSA), Unifi Controller, 3CX
* Remote support tools (e.g. Iperius, TeamViewer)
* Endpoint protection tools and DNS filtering platforms.
