Locations within the Determination Area are places of particular significance to the Nyiyaparli people, including ceremonial sites, songlines, permanent pools, and natural resources.LocationThis role is located at KNAC’s South Hedland office.Position PurposeReporting to the Financial Wellbeing Co-ordinator, the Home Program Support Officer will assist and support KNAC members by performing accommodation management activities, including home purchase and tenancy support aligned with the Home Program Support. This involves assisting with paperwork for home purchases, advocating, and helping to obtain rental properties. The role also includes designing, developing, and delivering workshops to meet and support KNAC members and the broader community. You will work closely with stakeholders such as real estate agents, property managers, tradespeople, community service providers, and government agencies to facilitate housing initiatives. The role emphasizes quality and compliance, advocacy, and case management.Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities of this role include:Assist KNAC members with necessary paperwork to purchase a homeAdvocate and assist KNAC members in obtaining rental propertiesDesign, develop, and deliver workshops and resources to support KNAC membersCollaborate with stakeholders, including trades such as builders, plumbers, community service providers, and government agenciesManage matters with attention to detail in accordance with KNAC policies and proceduresLiaise with Real Estate Agents, Landlords, Insurance companies, and relevant stakeholders to support tenants and minimize arrears and maintenance chargesFollow up on repairs based on building inspections (e.g., water damage, painting, gardens)Skills & ExperienceKnowledge, experience, and qualifications required include:Experience working within Nyiyaparli communitiesCultural competence and sensitivity in working with Aboriginal communities, understanding housing challenges and cultural considerationsExperience in housing assistance, including home purchase support, rental procurement, and property managementKnowledge of local and regional housing regulations, policies, and proceduresStrong advocacy skills and experience representing individuals or communities in housing mattersAbility to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government, builders, service providers, and community organizationsExperience supporting tenants, addressing maintenance issues, managing arrears, and fostering positive landlord-tenant relationshipsProficiency in housing paperwork and compliance with legal requirementsProblem-solving and decision-making skills for housing challengesNational Police Check and Working with Children Check (WWCC)Current Driver’s LicenceCPR Certificate (HLTAID009) or equivalentFirst Aid Certificate (HLTAID011) or equivalentMental Health First Aid CertificateNyiyaparli people and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.Why Join Us?At KNAC, you’ll be part of a supportive, inclusive, and growth-oriented environment.
