The F0 Ward (Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation) at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse (Orthopaedics) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity
The Clinical Nurse (CN) - Orthopaedic provides nursing services within the health service settings; and is responsible for a portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, education and/or research. The activities are predominantly clinical in nature, but also provide support to a Nurse Grade 7 or above in management activities. The CN Orthopaedic provides advanced level clinical skills to ensure patient-focused evidence-based nursing care plans and coordinates the clinical management of patient/client care and provides leadership and support to other nursing staff.
The Clinical Nurse – Orthopaedic will manage the patient's journey and prepare patients for their surgical procedure covering Pre-admission clinics, pre-operative management/ screening, patient education, audits, and statistics. The Clinical Nurse Orthopaedic also audits all trauma neck of femur (NOF) fracture patients and enters data to the NOF registry. The aim is to ensure all patients are medically fit and well prepared and educated for their procedure and subsequent discharge.
About The Team
F0 Ward is a 28 bed Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Ward. It consists of 18 Orthopaedic beds, catering to Orthopaedic Elective and Trauma patients and 10 Rehabilitation beds.
