Job Overview
The IS Mechanical Designer I designs mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop unique high-level concepts and designs for assigned projects.
2. Ensures the successful execution of goals for all assigned projects by working closely with the team.
3. Conducts site surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.
4. Produces design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams, architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.
5. Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.
6. Contributes to all aspects of the creative process and department.
7. Works under direct supervision and performs tasks as directed.
8. Handles basic issues and problems, referring complex matters to higher-level staff.
9. Assists with the development of technical reports or related documents.
10. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
1. Associate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
2. 1-2 years' experience in building construction, particularly in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or automatic temperature controls.
3. Proficiency in AutoCAD and REVIT.
4. Strong technical skills.
5. Effective oral and written communication skills.
6. Vision and creativity.
7. Ability to meet deadlines.
8. Planning skills.
9. Possesses a beginner-to-working knowledge of the subject matter.
10. Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
11. Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
1. Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree.
2. Experience in Building Automation System design and sequence writing – Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and Tridium.
3. HVAC Design and Commissioning experience – Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and Steam.
4. Higher Education and Healthcare design experience.
Travel Requirements: Up to 25% of time may be spent traveling to job sites/office locations.
