Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is currently looking for a Quality, Risk and Safety Officer. The role supports the delivery of safe, high-quality and compliant health services across the organisation. Reporting to the Manager Quality, Risk and Safety, this role assists in the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of quality management systems and supports the implementation of Work Health and Safety and risk management requirements in line with statutory regulations. Working closely with the Quality, Risk and Safety team and Assets team, the Officer contributes to WHS, quality and risk activities including audits, staff engagement, documentation and record keeping. The role involves regular travel to all KWHB locations to undertake audits, support safety activities and build strong, collaborative working relationships. This is a hands-on, pivotal role and requires up to 50% remote travel and a strong commitment to improving systems that support culturally safe, high-quality service delivery.

Established in 1998, Katherine West Health Board is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that provides a range of clinical, preventative and public health services to clients in the Katherine West Region of the Northern Territory. With four major health care centres and a range of satellite centres, KWHB services an area over two times the size of Tasmania (162,000km²), helping to improve the health and wellbeing of some of the most remote communities in Australia.

The Quality, Risk and Safety Officer undertakes regular quality, safety and risk audits across KWHB's remote health centres to ensure compliance with organisational standards and regulatory requirements. The role engages with healthcare staff and stakeholders to discuss audit outcomes, identify risks and gather feedback, while accurately documenting findings, reports and improvement actions within the Quality Management System. Working collaboratively with the Manager Quality, Risk and Safety and operational teams, the Officer supports continuous improvement initiatives, promotes a strong culture of health and safety, assists with risk assessments and corrective actions, and provides administrative and reporting support to ensure effective quality, safety and risk management across the organisation.
