We are seeking a versatile Sound Technician to support our retail store's audio needs and produce high-quality content for our marketing campaigns. This role combines traditional sound technician duties with retail and creative responsibilities including video filming, editing, and content production for social media and digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
* Setting up, testing, and operating audio equipment within the retail environment (e.g., in-store audio systems, demonstration areas, events).
* Maintaining and configuring microphones, speakers, mixers, amplifiers, and recording equipment.
* Monitoring audio quality and making adjustments to ensure optimal performance.
* Troubleshooting and repairing minor technical issues with audio equipment.
* Recording, editing, and mixing audio for promotional use.
* Ensuring safe handling, installation and maintenance of all audio equipment.
Retail & Multimedia Content Duties
* Producing high-quality video content to promote products, in-store events, and brand messaging.
* Filming and editing videos for social media, websites, and digital advertising.
* Capturing and editing product demonstration videos featuring staff or customers.
* Working with the marketing team to plan and deliver creative content aligned with business goals.
* Assisting with visual merchandising through digital displays and in-store multimedia setups.
* Supporting basic photography requirements (products, staff, events).
* Managing digital assets, organizing footage, maintaining consistent branding.
Skills & Experience
* Experience as a Sound Technician or Audio/Visual Technician (live, studio, retail, or corporate environments).
* Strong practical knowledge of audio equipment, signal flow, and acoustic principles.
* Experience in video production: filming, lighting, audio capture, editing.
* Proficiency with editing software (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, Audition, Pro Tools etc.).
* Creative eye for content, composition, pacing and branding.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate with marketing and retail teams.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Comfortable interacting with staff and customers in a retail environment.
Qualifications
* Preferred: Certificate III/IV in Live Production, Theatre and Events, Screen & Media, Sound Production, or related field.
* 3+ years relevant experience in audio, AV, or media production (as acceptable under ANZSCO requirements).
