Join Our Team as a Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program Trainer at Saltbush!

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals who have faced multiple and complex barriers to workforce participation? Saltbush is seeking a dedicated and culturally aware Trainer to join our Training Services team in Darwin.

Position Details:

* Location: Darwin
* Employment Type: Fulltime Fixed Term until 31 March 2028
* Excellent Remuneration: $110k + 11.5% super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leave
* Reports To: RTO Manager
* Hours: Normal business hours, with flexibility for additional hours as needed
* Travel: Occasional travel to other Saltbush service locations

The Role: As the SEE Program Trainer, you will play a pivotal role in empowering participants to achieve vocational success. You will deliver high-impact foundational skills training that builds confidence, enhances literacy and numeracy and prepares participants for further vocational training and employment.

Working collaboratively with a dynamic team, you will deliver both accredited and non-accredited training aligned with the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) levels 1-3 in Literacy, Language, Numeracy and Digital Skills within an arts context, ultimately driving all participants to successfully attain ACSF level 3.

As the Trainer, you will work closely with a team of Mentors and Art Tutors and play a key role in developing tailored learning resources and strategies to support participants’ language, literacy and numeracy needs, ensuring content is accessible, engaging, culturally safe and aligned with program outcomes.

Your work will consistently reflect cultural sensitivity, respect and collaboration.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To ensure success in your role as SEE Program Trainer, you will:

Program Delivery

* Administer ACSF LLND assessments to new participants to gauge LLND levels and eligibility for the program
* Develop, deliver and implement tailored LLND training and learning materials to support adult learners, based on individual learning needs and goals.
* Assess participants’ LLND skill levels and adapt training approaches accordingly.
* Implement strategic, progressive learning methodologies that guide participants from building individual confidence to meeting high employer expectations.
* Integrate real-world content and practical tasks to enhance relevance and engagement.
* Incorporate digital tools and platforms into resources to support the development of digital literacy skills.
* Collaborate with colleagues to share and co-develop LLND materials and strategies.
* Evaluate the effectiveness of resources through participant feedback and learning outcomes, and refine as needed.

Learner Engagement & Support

* Cultivate an inclusive, vibrant atmosphere that promotes self-discovery and foundational skill enhancement among diverse learners.
* Provide targeted, hands-on support to address individual learning needs and ensure every participant achieves their personal and professional goals.
* Provide one-on-one and group support to build confidence and foundational skills in reading, writing, numeracy and digital literacy.

Collaborative Teamwork & Stakeholder Engagement

* Partner closely with the SEE program team to drive participant progress and achieve outstanding completion rates.
* Work alongside Art Tutors and Mentors to align training with individualised learning plans and career aspirations.
* Engage with broader Saltbush teams – including Finance, Recruitment, IT, Marketing Risk and Quality Management – to ensure a cohesive and supportive training environment.

Administrative Excellence & Compliance

* Maintain accurate and up to date participant registers, files, and documents to support internal and external compliance.
* Monitor and document participant progress within the Workforce Australia platform, providing regular feedback and adjusting strategies as needed.
* Uphold rigorous quality and compliance standards across all training activities, reinforcing Saltbush’s commitment to excellence.

What You Bring:

* A minimum of five years’ experience facilitating foundational skills delivery or transferring soft skills through dynamic, structured and adaptable learning activities.
* In-depth understanding of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) and Digital Literacy Skills Framework (DLSF) to drive effective learning outcomes
* Demonstrable expertise in the vocational contextualisation and assessment of the core skills, with a proven record of measurable success.
* Strong self-motivation with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet timelines, and excel in both working independently or collaboratively.
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of learners.
* A deep commitment to integrating Equal Opportunity principles into innovative learning strategies.

Completion of one of the following or an equivalent:

* TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set; or
* a higher-level education qualification, such as:
* TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (and its equivalent TAE70111); or
* Bachelor of Education, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Education, or higher (including qualifications in TESOL, adult education or vocational education).

* Conflict Resolution: Skills in mediating disputes and resolving conflicts in a constructive and culturally sensitive manner.
* Motivational Skills: Ability to inspire and motivate mentees to set and achieve their personal and professional goals.
* Organisational Skills: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records and documentation.

* Current First Aid
* Relevant qualifications for the role: TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice (and its equivalent TAE70111); or Bachelor of Education, Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Education, or higher. This may include qualifications relating to TESOL, adult education or vocational education.
