POSITION
Full-time position for a Baker available in Cairns, QLD 4870.
QUALIFICATION
You must have at least an AQF Certificate IV and at least 1 year of relevant full time work experience.
At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications.
RESPONSIBILITES
As a Baker, you will be responsible for crafting a wide variety of baked goods – everything from crusty breads and soft rolls to sweet pastries and hearty pies.
This includes preparing and mixing ingredients, shaping dough, and baking products to perfection while upholding our reputation for freshness, consistency, and friendly service.
You will also maintain a safe, clean, and effective work environment in compliance with sanitation guidelines and food safety regulations.
DUTIES
- Produce bread, rolls, pastries, and sweets fresh every day in line with product standards.
- Knead, mature, cut, mix, mold, and shape dough and pastry goods to meet specifications.
- Prepare pastry fillings, toppings, and icings with consistency and quality.
- Glaze buns and pastries and decorate cakes and buns with icing and cream.
- Inspect equipment and ensure the workplace is clean, safe, and prepared for baking runs in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Assess and prepare ingredients, ensuring weighing and measurements are accurate.
- Monitor oven temperatures, baking times and the appearance of baked goods to ensure correct texture, quality and presentation.
- Carry out the forming, loading, baking, unloading, depanning, and cooling of breads, rolls, and pastry products.
- Operate baking machinery, including equipment used for rolling, molding, and cutting dough and pastry goods.
- Empty, clean, and grease baking trays, tins and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of ingredients and supplies.
- Collaborate with fellow bakers and the production manager to ensure consistent quality standards are met for every bake.
- Adhere to workplace health, safety, and food hygiene practices to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.

SALARY
The position offers an annual salary of $70,000 to $80,000, negotiated based on your experience.
