Business Development Manager – Sustainable Construction / Green Infrastructure
Our client is a growing business operating in the sustainable urban development and green infrastructure space, experiencing strong demand and looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to drive growth across the market.
This role will suit someone with a strong sales mindset, relationship‑building capability, and an interest in sustainability‑focused solutions within the built environment.
About the Role
In this position, you will be responsible for driving the growth and expansion of our client's business by identifying new opportunities, building strong client relationships, and promoting innovative green infrastructure solutions.
Key focus areas include:
* Business development and market expansion
* Client relationship management
* Lead generation and sales execution
* Supporting product research and development initiatives
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct in-depth market research to identify new business opportunities, industry trends, and competitor activity
* Develop and execute strategic plans to generate leads and expand into new markets and customer segments
* Identify, approach, and secure new clients through networking, cold calling, and industry events
* Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders
* Prepare and deliver tailored sales presentations and compelling business proposals
* Manage and optimise the sales pipeline from lead generation through to deal closure
* Collaborate with marketing, product development, and operations teams to align business development efforts with company goals
* Coordinate with operations teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
* Address and resolve any issues that arise during project execution
* Monitor key performance indicators including lead conversion, revenue growth, and client retention
* Prepare regular reports on business development activity, market insights, and progress against targets
* Recommend improvements based on performance data and client feedback
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
* 3–5 years' experience in business development, sales, or a related role (experience in sustainability or green infrastructure is highly regarded)
* Horticulture background / experience
* Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven ability to close deals
* Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
* Experience managing projects from initiation through to completion
* An analytical mindset with the ability to assess market trends and business performance
* Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
* Familiarity with green infrastructure solutions, particularly mobile green wall systems (advantageous but not essential)
