Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator Role
This position involves working with the haematology multidisciplinary team to coordinate care for patients requiring allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (Allo-HSCT). The role includes long-term follow-up and late effects needs across the Hunter New England Local Health District.
About the Position
The successful candidate will have key responsibilities including:
* Providing individualized client-centered consultancy and assessment of patients' physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs throughout the patient journey continuum for complex haematological malignancies progressing to allogeneic Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT).
* Reviewing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating guidelines related to post Allo-HSCT and complex haematological condition vaccinations.
* Providing expert clinical leadership and consultancy for complex haematological patients' treatment regimens, tissue typing, and donor selection within the facility, HNELHD, and the state.
* Participating in quality improvement projects that involve monitoring, clinical assessment, and evaluation of patient care and outcomes in association with pre- and post-Allo-HSCT, inclusive of long-term follow-up and late effects both locally, across the state, and country.
Key Qualifications and Skills
* A registered nurse with current authority to practice with APRHA, demonstrating extensive experience and knowledge of haematology and Allo-HSCT applied in a mixed clinical environment and/or across a range of services.
* At least five years postgraduate nursing experience with 3 years specialty experience in oncology/haematology and postgraduate qualification (preferably masters level) related to oncology/haematology or evidence of working towards same.
* Demonstrated ability to communicate clinical concepts and information to non-clinical audiences and provide authoritative advice on clinical issues within the field of expertise.
* Demonstrated capacity to evaluate current clinical practice within haematology and Allo-HSCT and recommend improvements to avoid potential problems or minimize impacts on the organization.
* Demonstrated highly developed verbal and written communication skills necessary for documenting research, promoting awareness of current research, and providing clinical services directly to patients/clients.
