The Program Director will be accountable for ensuring the successful management and delivery of high value, highly complex business systems projects focusing on solution design, delivery, implementation, and adoption. This will require consultation and coordination with all stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver solutions that achieve agreed business outcomes, not just outputs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of high-value, complex business/system projects that enhance policing capabilities and frontline services.
- Oversee multiple project streams, including leadership of project managers, vendors, and delivery teams.
- Drive adoption and integration of solutions into frontline and operational environments, ensuring technology is usable, practical, and accepted by staff.
- Apply project management methodologies, techniques, and frameworks to ensure strong planning, control, and delivery.
- Manage risks and issues with a focus on governance, probity, and alignment to policing objectives.
- Monitor and report on program perks to ensure outcomes are realised and sustained.
- Support change management, training, and communication initiatives to embed new digital or technology capabilities into policing operations and organisational reform.
- Analyse legislative and regulatory requirements relevant to the project environment.
- Communicate complex technical and analytical information clearly to diverse stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- 5 to 10 years of experience in program or project management roles.
- High-level leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence and engage across all stakeholder groups.
- Strong program or project management skills, knowledge, and experience in project management methodologies, with emphasis on project planning and control, risk and issue management.
- Demonstrated track record of balancing delivery and adoption, ensuring solutions are delivered successfully and integrated effectively into operations.
- Proven ability to support and lead change management, including training and user engagement, to integrate new digital or technology capabilities with organisational transformation needs.
- High-level liaison skills, with the ability to negotiate with diverse groups and achieve high quality, practical outcomes.
- Experience identifying and analysing complex legislative and/or regulatory requirements applicable to the relevant industry/work environment and their processes.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience working within a large, complex, and high-profile program environment.
- Demonstrated understanding of IT Service Management frameworks.
- Experience in technical concepts including system analysis, design, integration, and associated interfaces.
- Experience working in a government environment, particularly law enforcement or frontline services.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Visio, Office Suite, JIRA, and SharePoint, or ability to quickly acquire.
