Newcomb Secondary College, established in ****, serves around 467 students in Years 7-12 across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula.
We offer a future-focused curriculum with strong VCE, VCAL and VET pathways, including a pioneering P-Tech program and robust tertiary partnerships.
Location Profile
We have modern, light-filled learning spaces, a STEM hub, a 128-seat auditorium and recently refurbished math and music facilities.
Selection Criteria
SC1 – Demonstrated skills and experience in managing a Learning Resource Centre/Library that delivers student learning outcomes.
SC2 – Demonstrated knowledge in delivering support in a digital environment and the ability to innovate, particularly in the development of school and educational priority learning areas.
SC3 – Demonstrated high-level professional conduct and interpersonal, written and oral skills, including the ability to engage with staff, students, parents and the broader school community.
SC4 – Highly developed organisational skills and experience in managing a budget.
SC5 – Demonstrated commitment to professional development and the capacity to work effectively as part of a greater team to support the college.
Role
Attendance: 32.5 hours over 5 days, 8:30 am-3:30 pm.
Range 3 focus on management responsibility and accountability for the delivery of professional support services.
The position includes staff management, budget oversight, and reporting to senior management.
Responsibilities
Deliver innovative and exemplary learning services to our community
Facilitate access to information and technology services
Promote information literacy and digital literacy through curriculum initiatives and community access
Empower the community to embrace creativity and innovation using current and emerging technologies
Manage the Learning Resource Centre to ensure a harmonious, strategic environment
Provide a consistent approach to planning and resourcing for Learning Area Leaders to achieve the school curriculum and pedagogical objectives
Manage cataloguing and borrowing systems for resources, equipment and teaching aids
Produce, promote and display relevant materials to students and staff creating a welcoming learner-centred collaborative environment
Supervise the Learning Resource Centre as appropriate
Support data-driven learning outcomes relevant to the curriculum
Plan and conduct research skills tutorials for small groups of students
Assist in the reading program, including tutoring small groups of students
Prepare equipment for teacher and student use
Assist in the planning, submission, implementation and evaluation of program budgets
Assist visitors to the LRC including booking arrangements
Conduct an annual stocktake of resources
Liaise in relation to all matters concerning supply and invoicing of goods
Undertake other duties relevant to the field of responsibility as requested by the Business Manager or Principal
